Patten Shine Weekly: Super Love

 

Bible Reading Celebration

“Amen!” Our hearts were deeply touched yesterday when we heard a loud “Amen!” ringing through the sanctuary from Walter and Annie. Though it was their first time attending our Sunday service, they are our longtime church and community family. Hearing their voices join ours made the chapel feel truly warm.






Our Family Worship was a beautiful tapestry of joy: from the children ringing handbells to the Christian puppets performing their "Super Love" dance (not just for the Super Bowl!), and Delila’s stunning offertory solo. Our fellowship continued long after the service over a wonderful meal.

Most importantly, we celebrated those who worked hard this past month to read through books of the Bible. Hearing your living testimonies of how the Word brought peace and joy was a true blessing. Praise the Lord who speaks to us! We will continue to celebrate our Bible reading and hear testimonies every second Sunday of the month.

Valentine’s Day Supper

  • This Saturday (Feb 14, 2026) Enjoy a variety of delicious homemade soups and receive special handmade cards from our children. A perfect way to share the love!

Men’s Group: Kingdom Men

  • Monday, March 2, 2026, (at 6:00 PM at Houlton UMC) Men from several local churches gather monthly for food and worship. This month, Gabriel Grimm from Houlton UMC will be providing a delicious meal and sharing his powerful testimony. Please join us for this time of fellowship!

Patten Fire Victims Luncheon

  • Saturday, March 21, 2026, four local churches and the Cultural Center take turns hosting a monthly luncheon on the 3rd Saturday to provide emotional and spiritual support for fire victims. Our church is hosting an event in March. Please let us know if you can serve on the Encouraging Team or help with the meal.

Cluster Service with the Bishop

  • Sunday, April 12, 2026 (The week after Easter), nine area churches will gather at Grant Memorial UMC (Presque Isle) for a combined worship service with our Bishop. There will be a Potluck Luncheon, and the offering will be dedicated to Hope & Justice. For those who can't travel, there will be live-streaming in our church at 10:30 am.

If you had told me just a few months ago that I'd be standing here, actively participating in church, perhaps even joining in church karaoke, I might not have believed you! For years, I would have found every excuse not to attend. I always felt a quiet tugging at my heart, a sense that there was something more, but I constantly ignored it. The Third Week of October

10.19.25 Laity Sunday                          Last Friday,  UWF packed 40 dozen cookies and delivered them to 31 stores that donated baskets for our annual tea party! Thank you all for helping this wonderful ministry! After that,  my family went to Limestone for my older children’s parent conferences and their soccer championship—it was a 12-hour day! On Saturday morning, we joined the Bridge to Hope walk for cancer fundraising, and in the afternoon, we had a pumpkin party. The Han family prepared for Laity Sunday with two coffee hours and some gifts for everyone.   On Sunday, we celebrated Laity Sunday in four churches and at the nursing home—with lots of joy! From Sunday to Monday, I worked over eight hours to finish my M.Div. report.
