The Patten Shine Weekly: Patience for the Re-Creation
Have you ever had to endure a messy and chaotic season just to reach a better future?"
I have lived here in Maine for eleven and a half years now. Recently, our furniture has been getting old, and my children’s bookshelf was on the verge of collapsing, so we finally replaced it. During that process, books were scattered everywhere. We had to endure a messy house for several days. However, when the books were finally tucked perfectly into the new shelf, the joy was truly great.
Over the past month, we have also had to go through a season of waiting and adjusting as we updated our sound and media systems. It wasn't always easy, but I was so happy that the livestream went well last week. I was even more delighted to hear that some of you could hear so clearly that you had to turn down your hearing aids! I want to say a deep thank you again to Mr. & Mrs. Quint, the Media Team, and the Trustees for their hard work.
For God to re-create us, we must often go through a state of being "disoriented." That state can be very painful and lonely. It can feel as if no one is there and as if God is not answering us. But we know that once that time passes, the "re-creation" God has prepared for us is waiting.
Our Lord re-creates Mount Katahdin every single day with new colors and new light. I believe He is doing the same for us—creating us anew every day. Let us endure these difficult times with faith and hope. Thank you, Kathy Cas,e for sharing this picture!
