Patten Shine Weekly: Repotting (Children's Sunday tomorrow)
Do you like spider plants?
A few years ago, a teacher shared a spider plant with me. It grows so well and multiplies beautifully from generation to generation. I can’t even count how many baby spider plants I have given away to people over the years! Just yesterday, I made almost 30 baby pots out of 5 mother plants!
Scripture reminds us,
“Every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.” (John 15:2)
Repotting stretches the roots. Pruning cuts away old parts. Both look painful at first, but they create room for new growth. God sometimes does the same in our lives.
Tomorrow, we will celebrate how our spiritual spider plants are growing in our Children’s Sunday! Jeanie Good has been teaching Sunday school for 50 years! God blessed us with 6 teachers and helpers, 5 youth, and 10 children last year! Tomorrow, there will be a ceremony to thank our volunteers and encourage our beautiful children. Everyone is welcome!!
Children will meet at 10:00 am for practice.
We also had a wonderful Administrative Council meeting on May 14th, and we will have the minutes available soon. Looking ahead, we will have a combined welcome service on July 5th for the new pastor’s family, and we will officially start the A/B rotation model on July 12th. Pastor Craig will preach every other Sunday, and on the Sundays he is not physically with us in July, we will have lay leaders read his sermon.
Unfortunately, our worship time will have to change from 10:30 am to 11:00 am starting July 12th. This will give the pastor enough time to travel to us safely after finishing his first service in Hodgdon. Change is always hard, but I was so grateful to see everyone in the meeting willingly raise their hands to support this new cooperative ministry. Praise the Lord!
Lord, bless all our transitions across our four churches as we grow together. I pray in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen.
Thank you for all the fun times in the children’s ministry and at the Fiddlehead Festival!
Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow!
