Patten Shine Weekly: Pastor Joyce's Last Newsletter

Yesterday was truly a bittersweet day, filled with both deep sadness and overwhelming joy. I am so incredibly grateful that 16 friends traveled all the way from Patten, joining over 120 saints from our four churches to gather in one place. Together, we lifted our voices, our band played, and we praised God with our whole hearts, followed by a wonderful time of fellowship over a bountiful feast.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your extraordinary thoughtfulness toward our family. Planting a tree in front of the Houlton church in our children's names and gifting us a beautiful piano filled with so many precious memories and meanings is something we will treasure forever. Your heartfelt cards, gifts, and flowers have completely filled our hearts with the immeasurable love of God and your boundless kindness.

Our family honestly feels like Moses standing right before the Promised Land of Canaan! If God has used our time here to lay the foundational groundwork for the shared ministry of these four churches, it is my earnest prayer that Pastor Craig Taylor and his family will now become your Joshua, leading you forward to fully conquer and possess the land of Canaan. I truly believe that you will welcome the new pastoral family with the very same warmth and love you have so generously poured into us, embracing them as your own family. With that very heart, on the symbolic display of our four connected churches, you will see the Taylor family placed right at the very front. Furthermore, yesterday Victor gifted his own ordination stole—the very one he received at the Houlton church during his Elder ordination nine years ago—to Pastor Craig as he said goodbye. I sincerely hope and pray that these four churches will achieve a healthy, ever-growing, and deeply thriving combined ministry in the days ahead.

Though our one year together was altogether too short, it was a season of pure happiness. I leave feeling as though my love tank has been filled to the absolute brim, providing me with enough spiritual nourishment for the rest of my pastoral journey.

Our new address is as follows. Even though we are physically separating, I pray that our hearts will remain closely tied together, always connected through love and prayer.

The Han Family’s New Address:

50 Nautical Ln.

South Yarmouth, MA 02664

I love you all so much, Stetson Memorial UMC family!!!

Blessings,

Your Pastor Joyce Kang
